NOW ISLAMISTS PUBLISH "DEATH FATWA" AGAINST GAYEGYPT.COM

Posted 16 August 2003.

When today we stumbled across the website al-intashar.tk we were shocked by its' unashamed support of worldwide terrorism claiming even that it "fully supports the late Bali bombings that killed over 100 "people."" Amazingly, the word people was placed inside inverted commas suggesting they regarded all the many Indonesians and tourists who were killed as less than human.

It appears that the website may be linked with the banned Islamist organization jemaah islamiyah and in seeking to prolong its life on the internet has registered its domain as a dot tk, which atleast superficially links it to the remote island of Tokalau in the Pacific Ocean. Ironically the island's 1500 inhabitants are believed to be mostly Roman Catholic.

However, these fundamentalists, are likely to be plotting to promote terrorism somewhere in Asia or Europe. They boast to have endureed life among the "kufareen" in England, Egypt and Indonesia, but Pakistan, Malaysia or the Gulf States may be equally likely homes for these extremists.

The website seeks to encourage visitors to kill the editors of our website - on its' Islam's Egypt page it describes GayEgypt.com as

"A great enemy website of Al-Intashar - Is an Egyptian & western attempt to disgrace Islam and make even the current Islamless laws of Egypt, change to be even more western under the pathetic UN and "equal-rights" organizations - This site has signed their own death sentence ."

We believe this threat may be linked to others which have been sent to us by email recently - one apparently from Pakistan and one from Qatar. Using a careful analysis of the phrases used in the emails we traced the possible authorship of one of these emails to an Egyptian university graduate in his late twenties who may now be living outside Egypt.

The Al-Intashar website is full of poetry - a poetry full of hate which makes for miserable and tedious reading - and in its' bitter homophobic and anti-feminist rhetoric suggests, dare we suggest it, a repressed homoeroticism.

I said what
What do they live for?
All their women whores
Every child born, life's already torn

Not too long ago
I passed a boy on the road
His look and smell gave off
That he had no backbone
He would sell his own mom
And his (manhood) for pleasure
The release of semen
His little hearts treasure
I wanted to squeeze him until he popped
But I knew his dead thoughts would never stop
I wanted to tear him limb by limb
But there'd be no change to his implanted sin

If this website contained nothing more than inflamatory poetry we wouldn't be at all concerned but several pages contain blatant appeals to viewers to use "their hands" against the "kufareen" and, in case there is any confusion as to what this involves, their website details all the various small arms and surface to air missile systems todays fashionable terrorist might aspire to buy. Worse, their definition of "kufareen" seems to encompass anyone who choses not to comply with the supposed orthodox islam they preach.

We are now informing various security services and hope that their cancer of hate will soon be removed from the net. Please add your protest to ours.

"GAY" ISRAELI RELEASED FROM EGYPT.

Posted 8 August 2003.

An allegedly "gay" Israeli was released from prison after being held six weeks in custody for an alleged "homosexual crime". This despite the fact that homosexuality per se is not a crime in Egypt. But the police and courts continue to pursue so called "gay crimes" in what seems to be a continued attempt to appease islamic militants standing in opposition to the government.

Up until now it has almost always been gay Egyptians who have been arrested. When the "Queen Boat" raid took place two years ago and Egyptian police descended on the floating discotheque on the Nile, a Sudanese student was initially mistaken for an Egyptian and was arrested among the other allegedly gay men enjoying an evening out. But the police on discovering his foreign identity released him almost immediately.

But, despite this, it is surprising that it has taken so long until an Israeli was arrested and also surprising that the man has been released at all. This is because Egyptian society and politics remains virulently anti-semitic. Even outside Egypt, Egyptians often break off initial aquaitances with people if they discover they are Jewish. This happens more often than might be imagined as jewish identity is rarely immediately apparent especially in the case of arabic-speaking jews - such as the many jews from Djerba in Tunisia whom have recently emmigrated to Europe.

The Israeli man was initially arrested on 20 June after a classic internet "honey pot" sting by Egyptian cyber cops. It is not known where the police ambush took place but it is thought to have been somewhere in downtown Cairo. The man was brought before a Cairo court a month later on 22 June and he was sent back to prison for a further two weeks before being finally freed by a court ruling on 5 August.

The official reasoning for the release was an earlier Court decision freeing the Queen Boat prisoners and the argument that this set a precedent but in reality it was probably decided by political factors - a desire not to do anything to upset Israel during what has been a relatively quiet and positive few weeks in negotiations over Palestine - and the fact that this was probably a warning shot. An Israeli tourist was considered to be a soft target. One that few middle east human rights organizations would voice much sympathy for. The Government also probably felt that if gay groups rallied to the cause they could then use the media to tarnish these same organizations as pro-Israeli.

But instead such a propspect engendered a shameful treachery. Several gay groups, including to our discredit GayEgypt.com, decided to keep a low profile on this issue for fear of provoking further anti-gay hysteria in Egypt. So, despite the fact that gays in Israeli have been at the forefront of efforts to oppose Israel's illegal occupation of the West Bank, many gays, including ourselves, have chosen to remain silent over the fate of this Israeli man. Now, that he has been released, GayEgypt.com finally attempts to appease its' conscience slightly by posting this article.

EGYPT MAY FACE PUNITIVE GAY RIGHTS SANCTIONS BY US CONGRESS.

Posted 8 August 2003.

The following article appeared on newsmax.com on Friday 8 August.

Barney Frank Threatens 'Gay Sanctions'

Austin Ruse

Friday, Aug. 8, 2003

An openly gay U.S. Congressman announced at the U.N. this week that he would seek trade sanctions against U.S. trading partners that oppose U.N. human rights measures for homosexuals. Specifically mentioning Egypt as a target for sanctions, Barney Frank, Democrat of Massachusetts, made the announcement during a meeting of homosexuals at U.N. headquarters in New York on Monday.

Buoyed by a "growing level of success at the U.N." and a seemingly decisive international cultural shift, gay rights advocates met to discuss a multi-pronged strategy, including attacks on traditional morality and Christianity, that they believe will advance the complete gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender agenda.

During a panel discussion, Paula Ettelbrick, Executive Director of the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC) announced a coming "showdown with religion"x [ see also GayEgypt.com's new attack on the traditional teachings of islam click here. ]x and that the Pope's "call to arms" against homosexual marriage would be successfully combated.

Anthony Appiah, a professor at Princeton University, said that religion posed "a challenge" to the homosexual agenda, and wondered whether religious freedom ought to be limited.

Svend Robinson, a member of the Canadian parliament, singled out Bishop Frederick Henry of Calgary for criticism, calling his actions in defense of traditional marriage "unbelievable." Robinson also received thunderous applause from the audience when he told the Catholic Church to "clean up your own house" before criticizing the morality of homosexuals.

Finally, Robinson mocked "born again" Christians, asking, "Did they have to come back again as themselves?"

Definition of Discrimination

The panel also discussed ways to ensure that the resolution introduced by Brazil at this year's U.N. Human Rights Commission, that sought to expand the U.N.'s definition of discrimination to include discrimination based upon "sexual orientation," would be successful next year.

Robinson blamed the resolution's failure to pass this year on the Vatican, which "lobbied hard" by rallying "top people in Latin America."

In response, Robinson promised a worldwide lobbying campaign, and announced that a "different champion" other than Brazil will bring the resolution forward at the next session of the Commission.

There will also be a meeting held in San Diego this fall of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender parliamentarians in order to coordinate these efforts. In a flier distributed at the meeting, IGLHRC listed some of the laws it considered discriminatory towards homosexuals and that should be changed: "Sodomy, age of consent and other 'sex act' laws; laws on prostitution; laws penalizing those wearing clothing of the opposite sex; obscenity/pornography laws; denial of marriage to same sex partners; denial of marriage to trans [gender] people; laws on parenting/adoption."

The meeting was sponsored by U.N. Gay, Lesbian or Bisexual Employees (UNGLOBE), and illustrates the growing influence of homosexual rights advocates at the U.N.

U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan briefly attended the meeting, and Carol Bellamy, Executive Director of the U.N. Children's Fund (UNICEF), sent a message of support.

STUDENT ADMITS HE KNEW HIS BELLY DANCING WIFE WAS A MAN BUT TELLS POLICE THAT ALL SHE NEEDED WAS "A SMALL OPERATION."

Photo: Belly dancer in drag from 1950s film.

Posted 5 August 2003.

A father who worked as an accountant reported to police that his son, a student, was worried that his wife was somehow, presumably illegally, about to ruin him and his future career prospects. The police on investigating discovered that the wife who worked as a belly dancer was infact a man. The student responded that "all she needed was a small operation."

WE SAY: Behind the humour of the story there is a troubling issue. We are worried what action might be taken against the student. The gender of his partner should be his choice. We need to know what has happened to him and his partner. If you know please email info@gayegypt.com.

DANCING AROUND GENDER ISSUES

When an accountant reported to police that a cheap belly dancer had tricked his son, a law student, into marrying her and would eventually destroy his future, he never dreamed that the belly dancer was also a man. The student declared that he had known that his wife wasn't a woman, but argued that all she needed was a minor sex-change operation. (From Al Gumhuriya)

MARRAKESH.NET
WORLDWIDE GAY FORUMS
ATTRACT OVER 14 MILLION HITS !

We created Marrakesh.net after our work on the website GayEgypt.com showed there was a lack of cheap, easy to use, networking sites for the gay community in Africa and Asia, especially in the predominantly muslim nations, where gays suffer from isolation, discrimination and persecution. GayEgypt.com started in 2000 as a website for Egypt's gay community but we soon discovered that gays and lesbians across Africa and Asia were offered second rate and often costly networking forums by American and other international dating companies. We wanted to ensure that gays and lesbians in Asia and Africa

1. could have separate boards for all major cities
2. that no one should not have to pay
3. since for many English is a second language, they shouldn't have to complete a complex registration process
4. should be able to read and post messages in their own language and
5. had faster access so we gave many forums such as Bangladesh and Nigeria their own gay + country name.com addresses.

MARRAKESH.NET PIONEERED GAY FORUMS
ACROSS AFRICA AND ASIA.
