In 1897 archeologists escavating ancient coffins in Egypt accidentally discovered lines of verses from the Greek lesbian poet Sappho ( sixth century BC ). These verses were written on the scraps of papyrus which lined the coffins. Soon afterwards more examples of her work were uncovered on scrumpled bunches of papyrus contained within the stomachs of mummified crocodiles. ( Source: bookbuzz.com/panati/homosexual )
